Leatherman Tool Group, Inc entered the adventure cutlery market in 1983 with the introduction of the Pocket Survival Tool (PST).
Designed by owner and mechanical engineer, Tim Leatherman, the PST was a combination camping knife and pair of pliers. Such a tool can be quite a valuable accessory to have when adventuring or completing that quick repair around the home.
Initially introduced through mail order sales in specialty magazines, the Leatherman PST soon became readily available in the retail marketplace.
Today, the Leatherman Tool Group crafts 46 individual products that are available in more than 80 countries. Products include multi-tools, folding and hunting knives, LED lights and a huge selection of accessories including hardware, tool sheaths and promotional items.
Of the many products produced by Leatherman, the 11 full size tools are among the most popular and best selling products released by the company.
Considered the single best tools for most situations, full size tools are constructed with a vast array of tool options. Some of the most popular models are:
The Leatherman Blast is a fan favorite that is equipped with Leatherman's most requested features including 420 high carbon steel clip point knife, needle-nose and regular pliers, wire cutters and more. The Blast also features Leatherman's Zytel comfort grip inserts for a more comfortable and sure grip on the tool.
The Leatherman Charge line of multi-tools comes in three models; the Charge AL, the Charge ALX and the Charge TTi. All models include bit drivers and multiple screwdriver bits in sizes ranging from 5/64 to 1/8 inch, diamond coated files, needle-nose and regular pliers and most of the other tools expected with a Leatherman multi-tool. The difference in the three models are slight; the AL comes with extremely tough, beveled edged scissors that will cut through nearly anything, the ALX trades the scissors for a cutting tool specifically designed to quickly and completely tear through the toughest materials. The TTi offers the best of both the AL and ALX in a blending of what makes each one special and a few upgrades. The TTi alone is equipped with a stainless steel clip point knife and comfort-sculpted titanium handle scales.
The Leatherman Crunch is a multi-tool with well deserved attitude; instead of the well known needle-nose pliers, the Crunch is equipped with vice-grip pliers that can get a bite on items up to one-inch in diameter and a built in hex bit adapter. Compact and durable the Crunch is the perfect addition to any mechanic, plumber, electrician or home handyman's toolbox.
Other full size models include; the Leatherman Fuse and Knifeless Fuse, Leatherman Kick, Leatherman Skeletool and Leatherman Skeletool CX and the Leatherman Wave. All Leatherman multi-tools come with a 25-year warranty and leather or nylon sheath.
